Covington Plaza opened in summer 2021 as Phase II of the Riverfront Commons six-river-city trail system. The primary feature is a 1,350-seat outdoor amphitheater that overlooks a stage area on the banks of the Ohio River just east of the Madison Avenue Overlook in front of a series of floodwall murals. The plaza is a common setting for festivals and theater productions, although – when it’s not reserved – the public is free to sit on the seats.

Groups and organizations that want to reserve the space must obtain a Special Events Permit from the City by contacting Liz Glass at eglass@covingtonky.gov or (859) 292-2129. Note that it takes time to reserve the space, there is a cost, insurance is required and security may be required as well.
