Description:
Gus Sheehan Park received a nearly $150,000 renovation in 2015 after falling into disrepair several years earlier. The park now features new playground equipment, including a climbing wall, a newly paved parking lot and basketball court, and a new picnic shelter.
The park is named for West Covington native, Gus Sheehan, Jr. A longtime lawyer and newspaper publisher, Sheehan served parts of four decades in the Kentucky legislature, representing Kenton County. Sheehan served as Kenton County Trial commissioner, Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney, Kentucky State Representative and Kentucky State Senator. During his tenure in elected office, Sheehan was instrumental in the creation of Northern Kentucky University, the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky, and the Kentucky State Lottery.
