COVINGTON - The City of Covington is hosting a critical community input meeting on Monday September 23, 6:30pm-8:00pm, that will influence design plans to revitalize Randolph Park, located between 8th and 9th Streets, and Greenup Street and the Licking River, in the City's Eastside neighborhood. The public is encouraged to attend and share their views.
The Randolph Park design project is made possible by a prestigious, competitive grant awarded to the City from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) to redevelop Randolph Park into a model for a vibrant, sustainable and community-oriented park.
On Sept 23, AIA's Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT) will bring nine national experts to the City for three days to develop recommendations for improving Randolph Park. The SDAT will work with public officials, community leaders and residents over the course of three days to shape the community's strategy for addressing continuity, environmental and use issues. The final design presentation will then be made to the public on September 25.
These meetings are specifically focused on the design portion of the project. Plans to implement the design have yet to be determined.
About SDAT
The SDAT program is a community assistance program that focuses on the principles of sustainability. SDATs bring teams of volunteer professionals (such as architects, urban designers, planners, hydrologists, economist, attorneys, and others) to work with communities decision-makers and stakeholders to help them develop a vision and framework for a sustainable future.
