The City has hired Eaton Construction to resurface Russell Street from 6th to 18th Streets. Work will begin Monday, October 27 at 8am and is anticipated to last two weeks.
There will also be some minimal resurfacing work to cover the areas where the water main has recently been replaced by the Northern Kentucky Water District on 9th, 10th, 11th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, Robbins, and Chesapeake Streets.
Eaton will post No Parking signs in the area and will coordinate the work so that parking should be available on one side of Russell or the other throughout the project. Traffic will be accommodated at all times.
City Engineer Mike Yeager said, "This project is a great example of the City, Fire Department, and the Northern Kentucky Water District (NKWD) working together to save taxpayer money. There was low water pressure in the area and NKWD was able to justify replacing the main once the City committed to resurfacing the road because it saves them on restoration costs. The City was able to acquire Surface Transportation of Northern Kentucky (SNK) funding to pay for 80% of the paving costs."
