COVINGTON -This year the Great American Cleanup (GAC) is coming to Covington in a bigger and better way than ever before. In honor of Covington's bicentennial year, Keep Covington Beautiful is partnering with COV200, Center for Great Neighborhoods, and the City of Covington to make sure that this year's Cleanup creates more excitement, attracts more volunteers, makes our city more beautiful, and celebrates with our participants more than ever. This year's event will take place on Saturday, April 25 from 9am-12pm.
For over a decade the GAC has been Covington's single largest and best attended mass service day. Last year Keep Covington Beautiful was able to assemble nearly 1000 volunteers who collected almost 5 tons of trash off of Covington's streets and green spaces in just three hours.
In 2015 there are two ways to get involved:
Host a Site: Last year we had over 25 sites participate. Sites can be led by neighborhood groups, businesses, schools, or just a group of friends! We provide all sites with trash bags, gloves, and water for volunteers, and free mulch from the City of Covington. We're also working on a partnership with the Cincinnati ToolBank to give all sites free tool rental again this year. This is a great opportunity to tackle a neighborhood park or green space. In honor of the bicentennial, this year we're offering a $200 reward to the group with the most improved site!
Join a Site: If you don't have a particular site in mind but still want to help, register as a group or an individual and we will connect you to a site in your area. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and are invited for a complimentary lunch at the after party at Goebel Park.
Registration can be done at http://keepcovingtonbeautiful.com/great-american-cleanup/.
