Call for Entries for Covington Bicentennial 4th of July Parade

COVINGTON, KY - COV200, the Center for Great Neighborhoods, and the Friends of Peaselburg Neighborhood Association (FOPNA) invite residents, businesses, sports teams, civic and neighborhood associations to celebrate Covington’s Bicentennial by participating in a special rendition of the traditional Fourth of July parade. For the past several decades, the Peaselburg neighborhood has hosted a parade to honor our nation’s independence, and this year the festivities and route will be expanded to include a celebration of Covington’s Bicentennial.

FOPNA and COV200 are encouraging organizations and individuals from all of Covington’s 19 neighborhoods to participate. Entries can include everything from floats to decorated wagons, strollers, banners, or vehicles. A bicentennial theme is encouraged, but not required.

The Covington Neighborhoods’ Bicentennial Independence Day Parade will kick off at 10:30 a.m. Walkers will meet in the parking lot at St. Augustine and vehicles will line up at Glenn O. Swing Elementary. The route goes down Euclid to 16th Street and back up Russell for an after party at St. Augustine. At the after party prizes will be awarded for the Best Decorated Neighborhood Association Float, Best Youth Decorated Bicycle, and Best Dressed as an Important Covingtonian.

Learn more about the parade, after party, and registration process by visiting the parade tab at www.COV200.com or at www.peaselburg.org. Groups considering entering a banner, float, or vehicle are asked to register online. The deadline to enter is June 19, 2015.
