Covington Offers Homeowner Repair Assistance; Applications Accepted July 27

COVINGTON, KY – Homeowners in Covington may be eligible to receive assistance to address problems with emergency home repairs such as faulty sewer laterals, inoperable furnaces or severe roof and gutter leaks, thanks to a program offered by the City of Covington’s Department of Development.

The Homeowner Repair Program will be offered on a first come, first served basis while funding is available with up to $5,000 offered per household.  Priority will be given to seniors, veterans and disabled households.

Homeowners can submit a completed application packet with all required supporting documentation in person beginning on July 27, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Covington City Hall, 20 West Pike Street.  The application review process can take up to 30 days.  Assistance to households will be based on eligibility and available funding.

The Homeowner Repair Program is funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and assists eligible low-income owner-occupants of single family homes (one person households with maximum income of $39,600, four person households with income up to $56,550).  Funds are available city-wide in the form of a deferred/forgivable loan.

The program eligibility guidelines, application packet and application instructions can be accessed here or by contacting the Department of Development at 859-292-2163.

The Homeowner Repair Program is wholly funded through the CDBG Program that the City receives annually from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
