City Schedules Orchard Park Request for Proposals Public Meeting 3/27

COVINGTON, KY –The City of Covington has scheduled a public meeting to gather feedback from the community concerning the future development of Orchard Park.

This effort is part of the Linden Gateway Small Area Study.

A Request for Proposals (RFP) for the future development of Orchard Park will be discussed at the public meeting. A RFP is a process in which the City solicits proposals from interested developers about what they could do to help the City meet its vision and goals for a particular site.

The meeting will take place 6 p.m. at the Center for Great Neighborhoods (CGN) on Monday March 27, 2017. CGN is located at the Hellmann Creative Center, 321 W. MLK/12th Street, Covington, Ky. The meeting is open to the public and all are welcomed to attend.

Orchard Park, a vacant city-owned greenspace bordered by Jackson, Orchard, Berry and Locust streets, is located in the Westside Neighborhood. Over the last several years, the City and its partners have been working with the community to revitalize this area, clean up streets, program open spaces and manage community gardens.

In 2016, the draft Jackson Square & Orchard Park Redevelopment Strategic Plan was created to specifically address the future reuse of City-owned properties with the goal of developing a public infrastructure and open space strategy for unlocking the value of these sites.

As the City moves forward with development plans, it seeks feedback to ensure its vision and the community’s align prior to the issuance of the RFP. The draft RFP currently features two development sites for single family and multi-family development.

A comment period will be available at the end of the meeting, allowing the Mayor, Commission, businesses, and residents the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback. Feedback from this meeting will be incorporated into the final Orchard Park RFP.

If you have any questions and/or unable to attend the meeting but would like to provide feedback, please contact Development Director/City Engineer Mike Yeager at 859-292-2153 or myeager@covingtonky.gov
