COVINGTON, KY - On Sunday, April 23, join the City of Covington and the Linden Grove Arboretum in celebrating Covington's Arbor Day at the Westside Spring Celebration Festival. Covington Arbor Day events include a tree planting, Covington Urban Forestry Board displays, tree planting workshop and a tree walk with Pat Burns discussing the natural history of native trees in Linden Grove.
Covington Municipal Specialist of Urban Forestry Crystal Courtney stated, "Arbor Day in the City of Covington is a time to recognize the environmental and social benefits that trees provide. Trees are key to a vibrant and healthy city. As spring comes into full swing, Covington comes back to life with the flowers of the cherry and dogwood trees. The fresh flush of green, inspires us to get outside and appreciate our beautiful city.
"Please join us on Sunday to honor those who have worked tirelessly to improve and enhance the City's urban forest and to help us celebrate Arbor Day in perfect fashion, by planting trees for future generations to enjoy!"
This year marks Covington’s 13th Arbor Day celebration as a Tree City USA designee. Additionally, the City of Covington is the proud recipient of the Arbor Day Foundation's Growth Award.
