The City is currently seeking an Assistant City Solicitor to join the Legal Department.
This position supports the Assistant City Manager/City Solicitor and Senior Assistant City Solicitor/Alcoholic Beverage Control Administrator in the efforts to provide day to day legal support to City personnel by advising of legal consequences of their official actions.
Duties include: representing the City and its departments in civil litigation, protecting the City’s interests by filing proof of claims in bankruptcy actions noticed to the City, serving as the primary contact for the Department of Housing and Urban Development units within the city, preparation of pleadings in civil litigation, managing discovery for in-house litigation, providing legal counsel to various City departments, advising City as to state and federal laws concerning employment and personnel, processing open records requests, representing City boards and the City in administrative hearings, preparing and reviewing legislation and providing assistance to the City Clerk for finalization of documents and materials related to legislative meetings, engaging in activities related to the enforcement of City laws, ordinances and policies, engaging in activities involving collection of delinquent amounts owed to the City, and drafting transactional documents.
