The Devou Summer Movie Series begins Friday night at the park’s bandshell. The Covington Parks and Recreation department kicks off its movie series at dusk with the 1989 classic “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” starring Rick Moranis.
Live tunes at the Local Summer Showcase
This Friday at the Madison Theater you can listen to a full lineup of indie music, featuring The Matildas ... Kaitlyn Peace & the Electric Generals ... The Kenton Lands Band ... and Alex VanWinkle.

Run for that donut!
The annual Donut Dash fundraiser for youth summer camps - a 5K Run and Walk - will take place Saturday morning at Pioneer Park.
The event benefits the Covington and Newport Corps of the Salvation Army of Northern Kentucky.
Get your hands dirty
Renaissance Covington is looking for volunteers in the early afternoon Friday (11 a.m. - 3 p.m., 2 hour shifts) to work on Madhatter Park.
The green space at 602 Scott Blvd .is being updated into a park and play area (with a little Alice in Wonderland fun). Wear your gardening clothes.

Meet the teen author
Northern Kentucky native and award-winning teen author Lauren Hudson will sign copies of her novels on Saturday at Covington’s only independent bookstore, Roebling Point Books & Coffee.
Hudson’s new fantasy fiction novel The Deception, the second in a paranormal trilogy, has won numerous awards.
Meet the Artist: Susan Byrnes
Saturday is your last chance to stop by the 124 W. Pike Street Gallery and enjoy Susan Byrnes’s Viscosity Series - and even buy a piece to take it home. The closing of the show will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the artist will be available to speak about her work.
Covington Farmers Market
This weekly event features the best local produce, meats and eggs, soaps and lotions, teas, baked goods, sugar scrubs, nut milks and creamers, and prepared soups and salads, fermented foods, and ... (need we go on?)
This Saturday, Covington Farmers Market will feature their first Community Health Day, which will include guest vendors from a variety of healthcare practices. The farmers market will also be kicking off their new Kentucky Double Dollars program, where recipients of SNAP and WIC can double their vouchers for fresh produce, meats, and eggs.
