SUMMARY
Field enforcement of existing housing and property maintenance and building codes; inspect existing building and structures to determine compliance with the adopted codes and approved plan; determine deficiencies relative to housing/building codes and prepare concise, narrative reports and give testimony at appeals hearings and court actions, re-inspect buildings and structures to determine compliance and correction of deficiencies. Administer City’s Rental Inspection Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs entry-level inspection work.
- Responsible for learning to conduct inspections of property to determine conformance to applicable property maintenance and development code standards.
- Issue citations and violation notices to offenders.
- Assist in keeping rental property database up to date and accurate
- Develop schedules and timelines to inspect all rental properties within the geographic area they are assigned to.
- Obtain administrative warrants to enter properties.
- Assist part-time Enforcement Officers as needed.
- Provide testimony in court and at Code Board hearings
- Communicate with staff, residents, and neighborhood groups on the status of property.
- Issue work orders to Public Works for property maintenance.
