Operates trucks not to exceed a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License in performance of duties in the Public Works Department. Transports material, tools and equipment to and from city garage/work sites. Performs general construction, maintenance, and/or sanitation duties; other duties as assigned.

Performs daily preventive maintenance duties on vehicles, tools and equipment.

Detects malfunctions in equipment and makes minor repairs or recommendations for major repairs. Inspects load prior to departure, ensures correct and complete load. Drive truck to destination. Manually loads and unloads trucks. Operates trucks and small motorized equipment safely and efficiently. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations. Ensures cleanliness and proper storage of vehicles, tools and equipment after use. Assists in installing, constructing, repairing and/or maintaining city buildings and grounds, streets and roads, sidewalks, sewers, culverts, catch basins, manholes, drainage ditches, barricades, etc. Mows grass, collects leaves and cuts weeds, trees, and tree limbs etc.
