COVINGTON, Ky. - There’s a Christmas theme to just about everything going on in #LoveTheCov this weekend, but that doesn’t mean the calendar is homogeneous.
There’s an outdoor bazaar, a block party focused on unique brews, Santa reading to kids, a new donut shop, a fund-raiser for an outstanding non-profit, carolers and a whole lot more:
Outdoor shopping party
Here’s a chance to buy an array of unique, locally made gifts for all the special people on your list - and have fun doing it.
The 4th annual Covington Winter Night Bazaar - an old-fashioned outdoor (!) holiday night market - takes place in the Roebling Point District on Saturday.
It features: Two dozen local artists and crafters (from fine art to clay to soap). The Budweiser Clydesdales. Beer and hot buttered rum, not to mention hot chocolate. Bagel bites, pork sliders and Saratoga chips. And fire pits.
Dark Charge block party
Braxton Brewing Co. is releasing its Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout during its winter block party on Saturday, all part of Dark Charge Day.
Besides the obvious (Braxton’s beer, featuring the stout and four variants), the event will include music, food from local restaurants, and beer from 15 guest breweries.
Kids cultural sampler
Art - and the arts - make the world a richer place, and if you’re wanting to get your children involved in a more formal way in some kind of arts activity - but you just don’t know what’s out there - then come Saturday to Baker Hunt Art & Cultural Center.
As part of the Winter Art Sampler, instructors will be on hand teaching a variety of free classes with 20 different titles like Legos and Clay Animation, Serene Sewing, Guitar Jam, Wacky Weaving, and Dinosaur Holiday Card.
Ages 4 to 18 are welcome. Info,

A new donut place
People already come from far and wide to buy doughnuts in Covington, and now there’s a new option:
Sunday is the grand opening celebration (it’s actually been open for a few weeks now) for The Village Nutz, a new donut shop within Zazou Covington, the MainStrasse pub.
The celebration includes price specials on round, sugary treats (of course) and drinks from Zazou. Yum!
Christmas at the museum
Behringer-Crawford Museum in Covington’s Devou Park is hosting a variety of Christmas-related events this weekend:
- The Hills of Kentucky Dulcimers will be playing a concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, HERE.
- Local librarians will read “The Polar Express” and “The Holiday Adventures of Wiley Wahoo & Me!” to kids while they create a craft and consume refreshments at 2 p.m. Sunday, registration HERE.
