COVINGTON, Ky. - OK, so it’s supposed to snow this weekend.
We’re sure you’ve heard, and we are equally sure you’ve already gone to the grocery and stocked up on goetta, bar-b-cue chips, beer and other important food items.
As soon as you finish panicking, however, be sure to check out this list of things to do in #LoveTheCov this weekend.
The Hunchback, Covington style
Likely you’ve heard, seen, or read the story of Quasimodo, Esmeralda, and the dastardly Archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo.
But have you seen “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” at The Carnegie? If not, this weekend is your chance, as the show opens Friday and runs weekends in January.
Beauty, brains & culture
Come to the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption (the beauty) on Saturday and hear the Msgr. William Cleves (the brains) lecture about the legendary Covington artist Frank Duveneck (the culture).
“An Interpretation of The Duveneck Murals” will focus on the artist’s three murals at the Basilica (so even more beauty and culture).
2019 is the 100-year anniversary of Duveneck’s death.
It’s free but space is limited, so register

Food, while learning
Like good food? Fascinating architecture? Local history, as told with photos and entertaining stories? All in the morning?
Get all three at two different events this weekend, each lasting about three hours.
Riverside Food Tours offers the MainStrasse Village Food and Culture tour at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (tickets and info,
HERE) and the Madison Avenue Food and Culture tour at 10 a.m. Sunday (tickets and info,
HERE).
(A Roebling Point Tour will be offered starting in April.)
Farmers Market is back
Yes, it’s winter. But this is Covington, and the Farmers Market here has a LOT to offer. Even now.
It’s the second week of the 2019 season, so there will be cool weather produce, eggs, market meats, hand-crafted goods, bread and pastries, cold-pressed juices, sugar scrubs, CSA signup opportunities, and much more.
Check it all out - plus your Covington Farmers Market swag - on Saturday in The Roebling Room at Smoke Justis. Info,
HERE.
Barre, Beer & Braxton
(Confession: We stole the brewery’s alliterative headline.)
Yep, Sunday morning you can sweat your behind off with a 45-minute barre class, then drink a couple at Braxton Brewing Co. And believe us - you WILL sweat (unless you’re some kind of Crossfit champion of the universe. In that case, we desk jockeys are kind of jealous and aren’t sure we like you anymore).
For info and a list of a few things to bring,
HERE.
Or, if cardio is your thing, then there’s the Pound and Pour sculpting jam session on Saturday morning at Braxton. (Ditto the note about the sweating and the jealousy).
Last whistle for the Trains
Their run is about over. Sunday is closing day for the Holiday Toy Trains at Behringer-Crawford Museum in Devou Park.
(As in, your last chance to see them ... until next year.)
Take the kids, and check out the Dickens Village and Wahoo’s Winter Wonderland exhibits as they close for the season too. Info,
HERE.
How to buy a home
Learn the in’s and out’s of buying a home (from start to finish) from the professionals with this free class.
