COVINGTON, Ky. - This weekend is all about combinations.
Four flavors of VIVE ... Cannoli and Botox ... 5-horned rhinoceros beetles and rats ... and 20 food vendors from Latonia.
Read on ...
Four flavors hard seltzer
Blood Orange. Cherry. Peach. Black Raspberry.
It doesn’t quite have the rhythmic attraction of “raspberry red, lemon yellow and orange orange” of Saturday morning cartoon Trix commercial fame (it’s an age thing, y’all), but the VIVE Tailgate Variety Pack is hitting the field with four flavorful flavors.
Not only that, but on Saturday, Braxton Brewing Co. is holding a release party to celebrate the occasion for its hard seltzer. Oh, and you can win a limited edition VIVE YETI cooler, too.
Don’t tell Mrs. Frisby
One day you might “stuff” a moose, griz or pheasant. But most people starting in the craft of taxidermy start much, much smaller.
Like with a rat.
Hail Dark Aesthetics (in MainStrasse Village) and Meddling with Nature are hosting a five-hour workshop on Sunday evening that will send you home with a “stuffed” rat posed however you want - assuming you have some delicate hands and a not-so-delicate stomach.
Learn small-mammal techniques, glass-eye painting, and all about the tools you need to do this kind of stuff at home.
Details and tickets:
HERE.
Meanwhile, on Friday night, you can learn the “ends” and “outs” of preserving and mounting your very own 5-horned rhinoceros beetle. Details and tickets,
HERE.
La La Courtyard
Emma Stone. Ryan Gosling.
If they’re your “type,” you’re going to want to set up shop Sunday evening in the courtyard next to Hotel Covington for Courtyard Movie Night: La La Land, featuring the 2016 movie about, well, love.
A unique mix
Stop us if you’ve ever seen THIS combination at an event before: “Cocktails, Cannoli & Botox.”
(We bet you haven’t.)
Saturday afternoon, Del Gardo’s is hosting a unique event where you can “enjoy delicious, one-of-a-kind cannoli and refreshing cocktails while you indulge in some self-care and maintenance.”
Prices, details, and tickets,
HERE.
Taste of Latonia
Enjoy over 20 food vendors, plus wine and bourbon tasting, at the annual “Taste of Latonia,” which is part of the Holy Cross (High School) Festival held Friday and Saturday on school grounds and a blocked-off Church Street.
Besides food and drink, there’s also live music (Naked Karate Girls and Black Bone Cat), big raffles etc. All at the school near the railroad tracks.
