City Commission sets 2020 (Tuesday night) meeting schedule
COVINGTON, Ky. - Are you looking for something to do on Tuesday nights in the coming year?
Come down to Pike Street and watch your local government in action during the weekly meetings of the Covington Board of Commissioners, aka the City Commission. (After all, you elected them.)
The Commission - which consists of Mayor Joe Meyer and Commissioners Denny Bowman, Tim Downing, Shannon Smith, and Michelle Williams - recently approved its meeting schedule for the year.
The public is always welcome at the meetings, which typically start at 6 p.m. in the Commission chambers at 20 W. Pike St.
Note that meetings typically alternate between “caucus” meetings, when appointed staff make presentations on issues and proposed legislation and programs, and “legislative” meetings, when the Commission votes on ordinances, orders, and resolutions.
Caucus meetings tend to last an hour to 90 minutes, and legislative meetings last 30 minutes to an hour, though often much shorter.
If you have a concern, complaint, or compliment related to City business, you can address the Commission at the beginning of legislative meetings. To do so, you must sign up when you arrive (there’s a notepad on the table just inside the door), and you have three minutes to make your
point(s).
Here is the schedule for 2020:
