Bill’s in the mail: Trash fees due March 31

COVINGTON, Ky. - The City of Covington has mailed its yearly bills for trash and recycling collection, with payments due by March 31.

Bills are being sent to all homeowners and residents of rental units with one to four units. (Businesses and apartments with more than four units have commercial accounts and contract on their own with Rumpke Waste & Recycling for service.)

Residents have four ways to pay the bill:

  • Through an updated taxpayer portal, HERE.
  • By mail, at “City of Covington Finance Dept., P.O. Box 643749, Cincinnati, OH 45264.”
  • In person at City Hall’s Finance Window at 20 W. Pike St. It’s open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • By dropping the payment into a secure, after-hours drop box that appears as a slot on the outside wall of City Hall (to the left of the main entrance but not under the overhang).

If you have questions about your waste fee, call (859) 292-2180.

Friendly reminders:

This year’s bill includes a brochure from the Neighborhood Services Department’s Solid Waste and Recycling Division with guidelines about proper trash management and friendly reminders designed to keep neighborhoods free of trash and looking clean:

  • On non-collection days, store your City-issued trash and recycling carts in the rear of your property out of sight from the street.
  • Place all trash in your City-issued cart.
  • Each homeowner or tenant of a 1- to 4-unit building may set out one bulk item per unit per week.
  • All upholstered furniture must be wrapped in plastic.
  • Three extra bags of trash can be set out as your “bulk item,” but they must be put in a container.
  • Do not place plastic bags or food in recycling carts.
  • Do not bag your recyclables - place them loose in your cart.
