COVINGTON, Ky. – So we typically publish this on Thursday evening, but … well … it didn’t happen. The good news is that there’s all sorts of things to do in The Cov this weekend, including a one-mile fun loop through a park this afternoon, an outdoor movie, a “Tiny” Concert, a 5K and live art.
Goebel Getdown today
Get yourself to the Goebel Getdown.
It’s a three-hour event at that venerable park today, along a one-mile loop featuring a chance to get active, a festive feel and giveaway stations, with dog treats, pup bandanas, water bottles, refreshments etc.
It’s kid and dog friendly, although they must remain on a leash. (The canines, that is ...)
Again, 3 p.m. TODAY.
It’s sponsored by Covington Parks & Recreation, and info is
HERE.
‘Hotel Transylvania’
Fall is of course sweater, flannel and blanket weather, all of which you’ll need during Latonia Baptist Church’s “Latonia Fall Family Movie Night” on Saturday night.
The back-lawn event will feature “Hotel Transylvania,” as well as a costume contest and free food.
Make sure you register at the link,

Gang of Steele
Remember that silly 1980s TV drama “Remington Steele?”
This isn’t that.
Nor is it The Steeles, the Southern gospel group.
But it does feature Steeles.
The Tiny Concert Series this Saturday at The Carnegie will feature “S-T-E-E-L-E … the One with the Redheads” – billed as a “night of song, laughter, and dance from Broadway to Hollywood,” from a rather talented group.
As usual, only 50 tickets will be sold for the in-person show (spaced out in the 447-seat theater), but you can watch online as well.
Black History Walk
To illustrate our contention that “black” history shouldn’t be relegated only to February, and only to certain communities, Saturday morning there will be a Black History Walk in The Cov.
Take a scenic walk through historic parts of the City to see and hear details on several points of interest in the black history of the region.
It’s hosted by the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission and The Devou Good Foundation.

5(K) at 6 (a.m.)
Are you a morning person? Rather, can you MAKE yourself be a morning person so as to do something that’s beneficial for your body, mind AND a good cause?
At 6 a.m. Saturday, Lean Bodies Gym & Yoga Studio is leading several waves of runners on a 5K through the streets of Covington, Newport, and Cincinnati. A celebration follows, and medals will be awarded.
You don’t have to be a runner, the fitness center says, meaning you can walk, jog, or run the route. But you do need to register.
The donation goes to the Diocese of Covington’s Children’s Home.

Art while you wait
We’re fans of local art. Again, if you’re going to display something in your home and office, you should know the story that goes with it.
Hence we’re touting the Indoor Mini Pop-Up Market with Live Art at Purple Paisley, Local Artisan Shop.
It happens much of the day Saturday, and it will feature Cathy Fiorelli, Chris McCall, and Tim Gold, all of whom will be creating while you watch – and yes, they’re happy to talk about it too.
While you’re there, sign up for the Art for the Holiday raffle, detailed
HERE.
Farmers Market
Sure, you could work all year digging up weeds and fighting bugs and blight in order to get your fresh produce. You could also drive long distances looking for orchards and roadside stands.
Or you could get the tasty and nutritious benefit of homegrown and homemade the easy way, all in one place, on Saturday morning at the Covington Farmers Market. There you can typically get everything from kimchi to chiles, honey to hummus, corn to cucumbers, and eggs to gourds.
Safety protocols required. Info,
