Covington, 3 other cities to hold MLK Jr. virtual event that night
COVINGTON, Ky. – Note that offices at City Hall at 20 W. Pike St. will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day but will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.*
We also invite you to a virtual event Monday evening to celebrate the life and message of Dr. King, the minister and activist who became one of America’s most celebrated civil rights leaders.
The celebration is a joint event organized by the cities of Covington, Erlanger, Elsmere, and Independence. Its theme is “compassionate conversation,” and it will include keynote remarks from a legendary civil rights leader in Kentucky, Raoul Cunningham (details will be distributed later today).

*Note, however, that operations at City Hall have been affected by the pandemic:
- The lobby remains closed to the public.
- Staff has been encouraged to limit face-to-face meetings and instead do business via phone, email, and web-based meetings.
- Payment for bills, fees, and fines can be placed in the after-hours drop box on the side of the building. Payment can also be made by mail, phone, and online, as described HERE.
