The storm has already covered streets with layers of snow and ice and is expected to add significant amounts to those layers overnight.

 

Johnston told employees to work from home Tuesday and noted that most if not all of them were already equipped to do so because of the pandemic. Employees should generally be reachable by email and phone.

 

Meanwhile, he praised members of the City’s Police, Public Works, and Fire Departments for their dedication and urged the rest of the staff and the public to keep them in their thoughts.

 

“No matter what is being thrown at them, these men and women are out in this terrible weather serving the public,” Johnston said. “We all have a lot of respect for the work they do for our residents.
