(EDITOR'S NOTE: An earlier version of this piece touted a look-alike contest at Frida 602. That event isn't until next Sunday, Aug. 29)
COVINGTON, Ky. – We have some pretty attractive events to put on your weekend itinerary: a final summer concert … gardens for even the most challenged green thumb … the return of the Baker Hunt Artists’ Show … flea markets … and poetry that will stir your soul.
Last dance
But it’s going to be a good one at Behringer-Crawford Museum.
Tonight’s final show in BCM’s Music@BCM concert series features Ramona Blaine & The Company. Get ready for the best dance music of the last four decades. (That’s a lot of moves to remember. Ah, the Kid ‘n Play … The Snake … The Moonwalk … The Cabbage Patch … The Running Man … The Roger Rabbit … Need we go on?) Details

Bluesy influence
Looking to sit outside and hear some smooth sounds? Piper’s Café sets the stage for the Daniel Nail Duo on Friday, featuring the diverse musical backgrounds of Daniel Nail and Andy Smith.
Together they create a unique bluesy, modern sound, all the while giving a stately nod to influences throughout jazz history. More,

No green thumb?
… then try your hand at a “Whisper Garden.” No trowels, soil, seeds, or tiresome weeding necessary.
Purple Paisley, Local Artisan Shop has a watercolor mixed media workshop Saturday with artist Tara Lynn Pugh, who will teach you how to paint your own “Whisper Garden.” Two classes offered. Details,
HERE.
Cousin poets
“I am from / a place that could not hold me …” That’s where Cincinnati poet laureate Pauletta Hansel is from and she wrote about it in her poetry collection, Coal Town Photographs.
If you’re from that place too, do not miss Hansel and her cousin, Kelli Hansel Haywood, at Roebling Point Books & Coffee on Sunday.
The duo will read from and discuss their books that explore the 2020 lockdown. (Let’s hope a sequel isn’t warranted.) Details,
HERE.
Cuz creative people create
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen student art, so we’re pretty darn happy to see the Baker Hunt Artists’ Show up and running again this Sunday.
This is Baker Hunt’s first art show since the Covid-19 pandemic, so get ready to view some really inspired art, because during a pandemic, creative people create.
Wander the lovely, historic Baker Hunts grounds like lords and ladies of the manor and enjoy delicious treats and beverages as you browse the beautiful student-created art. Details,
HERE.
