(EDITOR'S NOTE: This is another in a series of recycling tips from the City of Covington's Neighborhood Services Department, Solid Waste & Recycling Division.)
COVINGTON, Ky. – Wednesday follows Tuesday, and Tuesday is known for its association with that crunchy goodness that wraps a shell around protein, veggies, and seasonings.
Here’s a recycling cheat sheet for our beloved Taco Tuesday that demonstrates how even preparing a simple meal can involve a lot of “which bin?” decisions … but you don’t have to be overwhelmed:
- Cardboard and paper boxes (such as the outer packaging and inner “sleeve” for hard shell tacos.)
- Tubs (such as for sour cream). Just rinse and attach the lid.
- Glass jars (salsa, jalapeƱo slices). Rinse. Throw metal lid and jar in, unattached.
- ·Metal cans (refried beans, corn). Drop lid inside can.
- Plastic bags. Use the Novolex Bag2Bag program for bags containing soft taco shells and produce. Use Terra Cycle’s mail-in program for grated cheese bags and others from Kroger and its associated brands.
- Foil seasoning packets.
- Plastic “clam shell” containers.
