COVINGTON, Ky. – Covington’s pool season will end Sunday not with a “bang” but a “bark” when Goebel Pool closes to human swimmers and opens to four-legged paddlers wearing fur coats.
Covington Parks & Rec’s annual “Dog Day” takes place from noon to 3 p.m. at the pool.
“The Cov has a lot of dog owners who like to take their pet out and have fun, and the dog swim day has come to be a very popular event,” said Recreational Program Coordinator Tyler Wilson. “So come hang out with your pup poolside – all responsible pet owners and well-behaved dogs are welcome.”
Parks & Rec will give away bandanas for dogs to wear, and there will be a photo booth where dogs can get their pictures made, with or without their owners, and wearing floaties and goggles, if desired. The current plan is to email the photos.
Registration isn’t mandatory but helpful, at DOG DAY REGISTRATION.
Note that dogs need to be up to date on their vaccinations, and, upon arrival, owners will be asked to fill out a short form attesting to that.
Note also that an incorrect date for Dog Day was listed in the Parks & Rec Program Guide distributed earlier this year. Sunday, Aug. 7, is the correct date.
