Let’s keep Covington’s First Responders safe this holiday weekend

COVINGTON, Ky. – Note that offices at City Hall at 20 W. Pike St. will be closed Monday for the federal Labor Day holiday but will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

We all know that Labor Day was created by the labor movement in the late 19th century as a day designated to honor the American worker and became a federal holiday in 1894.

The holiday is generally celebrated with cookouts, parades, all-around revelry, and – in Greater Cincinnati’s case – fireworks on the river.

To that note, we ask that you’re mindful of one group of workers who DON’T get the day off, and that’s Covington’s police officers and firefighters.

So please be safe and in turn help keep them safe as they put in long hours this three-day weekend.
