Yoga, snowflakes & bourbon

COVINGTON, Ky. – This would appear to be a weekend where you’re advised to wind down with a creative endeavor or two, give a little attention to limbering up the limbs, and enjoy a good pour of bourbon.

Next week, after all, you could well be in a hair-pulling frenzy, fighting over turkey drumsticks and politics. So take it slow this weekend, friend.

Stretch that stress away

Already stressed about preparing a Thanksgiving meal and gathering around the table with family? Is your brow furrowed in anticipation of better-avoided conversation topics?

What could be better than a gentle vinyasa flow class to leave you feeling refreshed and well-rested before next week’s big feast? (Bourbon helps, we know, but …).

Grab your yoga mat and water bottle and calmly go forth to the Kenton County Public Library tonight for its Flow & Unwind Yoga

Honor thy family on a dishtowel

Want to score points with your family? Be the person who casts a treasured family recipe, a beloved note or letter, or a special photo upon a kitchen towel.

On Friday and Saturday, the Heirloom Towels Workshop at Kenton County Public Library will help you scan the valued heirloom of your choice onto a towel that you can then give as a gift (likely the best gift of all) or display in your own kitchen.

Dots of snow

Do you love mandala dot painting? Always wanted to learn how it’s done? Saturday’s Snowflake Ornament Class at Purple Paisley, Local Artisan Shop with Loretta Marie Helfrich will teach you everything you need to know to create three to four mandala dot snowflake ornaments.

All dotting tools, paints, and supplies will be provided. Just bring a shirt to cover your clothing (if you tend to create on the messy side). Class is open for those 8 to 80 years old. There’s a small cost that covers all your supplies.

Come have a sip

About five months ago, Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar bartenders Kevin and Aaron crossed the Tyrone Bridge – which carries U.S. 62 across the Kentucky River between Anderson and Woodford counties – to fetch a delicious libation from one of their favorite locations.

Aged 10 years in the famous Camp Nelson, the Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Pick they retrieved is something they cannot wait to share, and they plan to do so Sunday at the OKBB Russell’s Private Pick Release.

They’ll have a handful of bottles available for purchase, because the angels took a serious share from this particular barrel. That said, perch yourself upon a stool and have a sip or two.
