Urban Forestry, Kenton Co. Extension to lead walking tour Saturday

COVINGTON, Ky. – The Eastside neighborhood will be the site of the next Urban Tree Walk, happening this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

Leading the tour will be Covington Urban Forester Patrick Moore and Kenton County Cooperative Extension Agent Brandon George. The pair will stop at about 30 trees on the walk, including those in the public right of way and those on the edges of private property.

“We will talk about everything from how to identify a tree to the characteristics of these particular trees to what makes a ‘good’ and ‘bad’ street tree,” Moore said. “We will also talk about invasive plants and invasive species on the horizon, such as the spotted lanternfly, plus other topics.”

The tour will begin at the parking lot at the corner of Scott Boulevard and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard/12th Street behind the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption.

Attendees should wear comfortable shoes, although Moore said the pace will be gentle. While the event is free, people should register here

The walking tour is organized by the Covington Urban Forestry Board, the City’s Urban Forestry Division, and the Kenton County Extension office.
